What If Fast Food Served Vegan Options? (hypothetical post)

Hello and welcome back to all my Nature's New Nook subscribers! Today's blog post is on a topic that is something a little more fun. What if mainstream fast food places offered more vegan options? Let's get hypothetical! 

Going on six-years as a vegan, the one pet peeve that still bothers me is the limited vegan options that popular fast food chains offer. Just some examples to make you laugh. McDonalds "vegan options" includes a side salad with just raw veggies and apple slices. Wendy's and OutBack offer a plain baked potato. While KFC's is baked beans or corn on the cob (no butter). One word, BORING. 

This I feel is ultimately one of the hardest reasons for people to go vegan, many chain style restaurants do not provide a sufficient and filling vegan menu. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of nationally chained restaurants that have vegan options. But not enough places for this lifestyle to be seen as convenient for others. In recent years, more and more places are stepping up their menu game by including vegan options. Veganism is no longer seen as a fleeing fad and has become more of a standard dietary norm. Burger King really set the bar in competitive advantage among fast food restaurant when they released the Impossible Whopper in 2018. Because of this menu change, it bumped them up to the #4 spot for most successful fast food chains in North America. 

If other restaurants served more vegan options it can bring with them a load of opportunity and benefits. For one, it can open up a whole new target market that will help build your customer base. By having a broader customer base can in turn bring these chains more profits. I know many non-vegans who actually prefer the Impossible burger over a standard beef burger. 

If all fast food had more vegan options it could create a domino effect of ethical plant based behaviors. The public will see you are now offering vegan options, feeling adventurous a family decides to give your plant based burger a try. They think, wow this taste exactly like meat, but it's from plants? Their whole mind is blown and a vortex of veganism has been opened up for them, hypothetically. Also if restaurants offered more vegan options it could open a door to all new types of joint business ventures. What are these businesses waiting for??
